“Feeding the Darkness” Shines a Light on…State SanctionedTorture… through Story, Song and Poem.
It takes its title from the words of James Naylor* and is presented as a series of monologues, duologues and poems written from extensive research into state-sanctioned torture. The performance challenges our ignorance and avoidance of this disturbing aspect of humanity.

*James Naylor (1618–1660) was an English Quaker leader. He was among the members of the Valiant Sixty, a group of early Quaker preachers and missionaries. At the peak of his career, he preached against enclosure and the slave trade.
